Science Centre & TVO Studio Tour

In November Henri took a day trip with his friends, George & Josiah to the Ontario Science Centre followed by a Studio tour at TVO. The kids seemed to really enjoy learning about the green screen imaging technology, and how they produce a show and meeting the host during a live taping. 

Laying Eggs

Henri has become very responsible letting the chickens out daily and ensuring they have enough food, water and clean coop. He often takes them out to let them run free in the garden. The hard work is paying off - the chickens continue to lay 7-8 eggs a day.

Peter's Birthday Party

On September 12th Henri attended his friend, Peter's birthday party. They had 'Party Safari' in to entertain the kids with a wide variety of animals such as birds, turtles, hedgehog, and chinchilla. They went outside afterwards to launch a homemade rocket (Peter's uncle had made) that went up a couple hundred feet and landed back in the yard.

Sleepover with Julian & Grace

We offered to take Julian & Grace for a sleepover a short time after Rosie was born to give the new parents a much needed break. Henri will take any opportunity to have his cousins or friends to over for a play date or sleepover. Grace was amused for sometime sorting coins while the boys played snakes and ladders.The next day we took the kids to the Children's Museum in Hamilton.

Monarch Butterfly

Every summer Henri looks for monarch caterpillars (or eggs) on the milkweed plant so he can care for them and watch them change into a beautiful butterfly. We only managed to find two caterpillars later in the season which was okay - still very impressive!!

 

Julian's Birthday Party

Henri was invited to his cousin, Julian's soccer themed birthday party on the long weekend in September. Henri's aunt & uncle had their hands full organizing the party just a few weeks after the birth of our most recent member of the family, Rosie. They played soccer and bocce ball until it was time to take turns kicking the pinata. We took a few pictures of Rosie after enjoying  pizza & cake.

 

 

 

Justin & Taylor's Visit in August

Henri was thrilled to have his cousins, Justin & Taylor staying with for us a few days in August when their parents were traveling in Europe. The weather was great to be out on the trampoline & and playing with the chickens - turns out Justin who is a bit of a "chicken whisperer." Before taking the kids home we went to the farm to pick sunflowers and beans.

 

Gaspesie, Quebec

In August we spent a week at Grand-maman's house in Baie Des Sables taking a three-day mini vacation to Percé, Quebec.The Percé Rock is a limestone island-peninsula, once attached to the shoreline, is of an impressive size: 450 m long, 90 m wide and 85 m high.We walked out to the rock  at low tide when we got back from 2 hr boat cruise around Bonaventure Island, home to the largest northern gannets colony in North America.

Otter River Farms

Henri spent the last weekend of July at Otter River Farms with his cousins. It is becoming an annual event to spend a weekend together over the summer to hike, swim, and enjoy an evening bonfire. The kids enjoyed the rustic atmosphere of the old farm house near Port Burwell.
