Henri went on a tour of the Buns Master bakery. He enjoyed seeing how the ingredients were mixed together to make the dough and then baked in large industry ovens. Each child received a goodie bag at the end and the parent took home a fresh baked loaf of bread.
Henri had his cousins, Julian & Grace over for a visit. They decided to put on their costumes and make it a Halloween Party. It was funny to see the "little stinker" roaming through the yard & spider man, a ninja and dinosaur jumping on the trampoline.
Henri joined a new GHG group this week - 'Take a Hike' . Every two weeks families meet up to walk the trails in and around the Guelph area. Henri enjoyed meeting and playing with some new friends during the first hike that took place at the University of Guelph Arboretum.
Henri & his friend Peter took part in the maps & mapping skills programme at the Wellington County Museum. They learned several skills to interpret maps including orientation, grid systems, following direction and using a map legend.
Henri took part October 12th in the science program organized by the GHG. The kids learned about the major organs of the body including the heart, lungs, and stomach. The U of G students had hands-on activities including a heart rate test, a lung model, and a fun / gross digestive system model.
On a very cold, rainy Sunday afternoon we joined our friends - Jeff, Jeanette & Nora at the Harvest Home Festival at the Wellington County Museum. They had wide range of demonstrations including blacksmith, rope making, sheep shearing, quilting, lace making and spinning wool. Henri and Nora decorated a gourd and took part in the candle making.
We attended the Carrot Fest at Everdale Farm. Henri enjoyed making bread in the earth oven, pounding flowers and leaves to make a natural dye scarf, and creating a vegetable critter out of beets, carrots & tomatoes. They also had harvest games, visit with the farm animals and many vendors at this year's event.
