College Royal

On March 18th, we went to College Royal Open House at the University of Guelph. This year, we started at a different part of the campus to take in new club exhibits. Henri really enjoyed the crop science, wildlife, botany, marine biology and chemistry lab interactive displays. Among a very large crowd, we watched an entertaining chemistry magic show.

Visit at Grandpa & Grandma's house

Henri went for a visit to his grandparent's house with his cousins, Julian & Grace. They had fun playing spies and soccer in the backyard. Henri also spent about an hour learning how to knit with Grandma. He became interested in knitting after using his knitting towel (corking).

Terra Cotta Conservation Area

We took advantage of the nice spring weather by hiking at the Terra Cotta Conservation Area. We hiked about 3.5 km and then stopped to feed the chickadees.

Shady Grove Maple Company

On Friday, Henri toured the Shady Grove maple farm. They enjoyed a wagon ride to the sugar bush, having an up close look at a modern maple operation, and tasting the maple syrup & sugary treats. The weather was interesting, ranging from snowy to full sun during the short outdoor presentation.

Toyota Plant Tour

Tristan & Henri organized a tour for the Guelph Home School group of the Toyota Assembly Plant in Cambridge. The one hour tour started in the Visitor Centre followed by getting on a motorized tram for a narrated tour of plant. Henri was impressed with all the robots, including the aptly named 'Godzilla' steel body frame lifters.

Henri's 9th Birthday

On Family Day, Henri celebrated his 9th birthday with family and friends. He decided on an alien theme party at our house which was a bit of a tight squeeze for the large group. We had fun skating on the lake and enjoying the mild winter weather.
